Hi! I'm Rocky.
I’m so ecstatic you’re here! I am a multi-passionate earth being here to hold space for your transformation and soul embodiment. I love to dance, stretch, breathe, immerse myself in nature, cook and eat yummy food, play music and connect with other divine souls. My practices combine the structured discipline of yoga (asana, breathwork and meditation) with the creative flow of dance to bring balance to the masculine and feminine energies within. I hope to create a space for you to honor the changes in your body and mind with love and compassion and root deeper into the unchanging awareness that lies within.
My Story
Growing up I was a gymnast and cheerleader and loved the combo of acrobatic discipline with creative dance flow. I got to college and started working out a lot which led to body dysmorphia. After realizing that my external appearance would never bring me soul fulfilment, I began the quest to reconnect with my joy and seek out new forms of movement.
Life led me to a yoga class in 2016 at the age of 19. I remember I couldn’t even touch my toes at first and every pose was so uncomfortable. But it brought me an inner expansion and euphoria that I had never felt before. When I combined the focus of my mind with the strength of my body, I felt like I could do anything. Each time going back it got easier and I felt like I was becoming more of my true self. I began craving to express my creativity and move in new ways. Yoga ultimately led me back to my passion for dance– it brought me the strength, flexibility, and embodied presence that opened up my creative dance flow. My practice has shattered the illusion that I could only pursue movement and dance when I was young– I will be doing this for the rest of my life.
I discovered ecstatic dance not long after yoga. This practice of meditative, free-flow dance activated my flow state and brought me deep into my cells and the present. It became a way for me to express emotions and energies within and open my creative channels.
I graduated Washington State University with a degree in Apparel Merchandising and embarked on a path of entrepreneurship and self-discovery. Through times of feeling scatter-brained, overwhelmed and mentally and emotionally unstable, yoga, dance and nutrition was the glue that kept me in my body. I dove deeper into my meditation practice and realized that all the years thinking I wasn’t “good” at meditating was just keeping me from practicing. Once I started showing up just doing my best, I could feel the positive impacts of meditation on my life. My quest for dance expression led me to a whole new layer of ecstatic dance called Kundalini Dance.
In July 2021, I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training in Costa Rica and after spent 7 months there facilitating yoga teacher trainings. While I was there I took a course to become a Kundalini Dance facilitator. I spent 6 months traveling in Asia from January – July, 2024. While I was there I completed a 300 hour training course in Hatha and Ashtanga yoga in Rishikesh India, my first vipasana (10 – day silent meditation course) and a 100 hour trauma-informed yin yoga teacher training. I am currently in Washington State teaching various in person classes.
My Philosophy
Life Mantra:
Do Your Best
Release the Rest
As a recovering perfectionist, this quote is my guiding star.
Pour your full self and light into whatever you’re doing, then let go and let the world receive it as it is. When you’re doing your best and showing up as your authentic self, you are enough. You are doing enough. That is your job here, to do your best and let your light shine and let your energy manifest in the way it’s meant to.
I believe that we all have the ability to heal ourselves when we give our bodies what we need. Our unique healing remedy is a beautiful balance of doing what brings us joy and leaning into our resistance and the uncomfortable. I believe that radiant health on all levels (physical, emotional, energetic, spiritual) can be embodied when putting loving energy into these 3 areas:
1. Mind - What are you thinking?
Our thoughts create our reality. About 95% of our thoughts are unconscious, meaning most of them happen without us being aware of them and how they impact our lives. You can notice how different thoughts create different sensations in the body. One may create peace and happiness, while another may make you tense up and feel fear. The purpose of meditation is to step into the seat of awareness and return to a state of consciousness. Through consistent practice we gain control over our thoughts and remember that we are not them, we are the consciousness that lies beneath them. Here we can identify which thoughts are not serving us, and switch them out for positive thoughts. Because the nature of the mind is thinking, the goal is not to stop thinking entirely, but rather to reduce the number of thoughts and choose thoughts that serve the creation of our reality.
2. Movement - How are you moving your body?
Our bodies are not meant to sit for more than 4 hours a day. Moving in different ways allows us to maintain mobility and prevents the body from degenerating. As a human society we tend to spend a lot of time hunched over which causes the body to degenerate quickly. Movement can also help us work through emotions and get in touch with our intuition through feeling, which is the key to healing. Moving your body in different ways is a powerful way to move and express energy in our being which can allow us to be in stillness and peace. It creates space for us to occupy our physical bodies which in turn creates space in our mind.
3. Fuel - What are you eating and drinking?
What we put into our bodies is the foundation for how we feel each day. Much of our food and water supply is littered with pesticides, chemicals, heavy metals and other toxins that get stored in the body and create disease and numbness. When we are numb we cannot fully occupy our human body. Everything we consume holds a vibration that is transmitted to our body from how it was grown, made and treated . High vibrational food (organically grown to support the natural cycle of earth) allows us to feel fully embodied. Consuming high vibe food that nourishes our cells and assists in flushing out toxins can support the body to heal itself.
The consistent practice of mindfulness, movement and conscious consumption can empower us to unlock our most radiant, abundant health. My intention is to share tools to support you in these 3 areas so you can shine from the inside out and feel fully embodied in your true self.
Much of my personal philosophy bloomed from the ancient philosophy of yoga.
From what I learned in my lineage, yoga was born from meditation. Ancient yogis in India began practicing different postures after experiencing pain and discomfort while trying to sit in meditation. They realized they could hold different postures to squeeze out toxins from the organs which allowed them to sit for longer and drop into meditation much easier. This practice of squeezing out toxins led people to the yogic diet, a vegetarian diet high in fruits and vegetables and free of toxins. Tantra yoga was the practice of realizing enlightenment through the physical body. From there, Hatha yoga was born; A practice to realize one’s true self through the body.
Yoga is a balance of structure and flow~ combining the discipline of leaning into discomfort with the surrender to the present moment experience.
In Yoga we work with both the masculine and feminine polarities, uniting them through breath, stillness and movement.
In Kundalini Dance, we embody the masculine and feminine polarities through breath, movement and intention.
The masculine is the structure of our practice. This energy is present in our specific asanas (postures) and our control of the breath. He is the discipline and strength of showing up and leaning into the uncomfortable. He is the pure consciousness and pure awareness that fills our still body and mind.
The Feminine is the flow of our practice. She invites us to surrender the experience and fully accept our current state. She is our place of rest. She flows through us as our unique creative expression. She is the flow of our breath and the surrender that brings beauty and grace.
My intention is for you to find your own unique dance and expression within the structure of each practice to find balance and union within.
Thank you for being here. Excited to flow with you!
